Top 5 Best All-Natural Whitening Toothpaste Review 2023
Dentist Tested and Reviewed
All-natural ingredients have become increasingly popular as many individuals look to avoid unnecessary toxins or chemicals. This healthy mindset has impacted all industries, including food, health, beauty, oral care, and products (BPA-free).
Toothpaste ingredients have recently been placed under a microscope to nail down what ingredients are essential and others that can be left out. As a result, ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfate, peroxides, dyes, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors, preservatives, and parabens have been left out of most all-natural toothpaste formulations.
Instead, these undesirable ingredients have been replaced with minerals, including sea salt, aloe vera, coconut oil, and essential oils.
Most of these all-natural toothpastes is fluoride-free; however, some are available with fluoride. In addition, each product is specifically formulated to gently whiten without damaging the enamel or leading to tooth sensitivity.

Dr. Washington Wentworth Sheffield was a respected dentist who created a creamy-textured, teeth-cleaning product for his patients. He formulated the paste in his office and added mint extracts to improve the flavor. Then, he began testing the new product on his patients and received rave reviews. Soon after establishing Sheffield Dentifrice Co. in 1880, with the help of his son, he constructed a manufacturing plant on his property.
Today, the plant still stands in New London, Connecticut, where his premium natural toothpaste is made. Dr. Lucius Sheffield was the only child of Dr. Sheffield. He found inspiration while watching Parisian artists preparing their paint palettes.

Our only complaint is the absence of fluoride to repair weakened enamel and prevent tooth decay.

Dentist Review
Hello Activated Charcoal Toothpaste is gentle on the gums, and its consistency is smooth and comfortable to use. The ingredients are similar to Tom’s Activated Charcoal Toothpaste; however, Hello uses sodium monofluorophosphate 0.76% rather than sodium fluoride 0.24%. This toothpaste is less spicy and doesn’t exhibit any bitterness. The flavor is refreshing and enjoyable. Also, it was effective at whitening, and the touch of coconut oil gives off a tropical-mint flavor. Although it features many positives, we still find it unsightly to spit out black toothpaste. It gave us a “dirty-mouth” vibe even though our mouths felt spectacular after using this product.

Final Thoughts
Dr. Sheffield’s Certified Natural Toothpaste came out on top because of its delightful mint flavor, comfortable texture, all-natural ingredients, and effective whitening without sensitivity. They’ve been pumping out this product since 1850 and have mastered the ingredient formulation exceptionally.
Lumineux Oral Essentials Whitening Toothpaste came in second and was close to scoring a perfect score. We were delighted with the whitening effectiveness but turned off by its sensitivity afterward. We do realize tooth sensitivity is possible when whitening teeth. Hello Activated Charcoal Toothpaste rounded out the top 3. It offers effective whitening with great flavor + coconut oil. Spitting black toothpaste was unusual and weird, considering it looks as if we have a dirty mouth after use.
This is not the case; however, activated charcoal toothpaste may not be for everyone. We appreciate that Hello offers a fluoride and fluoride-free option for this product and many others.
